Sanity in Politics & Public Service - The Psychopath
I do have compassion for people with major personality disorders. There is much they miss out on. They did not ask for this. It is something in the network of the brain & chemicals. This is often exacerbated by environment & experience etc. I would not wish it on anyone.
However, from my experience, psychopaths view compassion as a sign of weakness, to be exploited. It is best to view them as dangerous until proven wrong.
I am more concerned with the harm they can reek in the world and individuals.
Ideally, unqualified individuals would be weened away from power positions in government, public service, police & prison systems, and the upper hierarchy of the military. Call it harm reduction.
They say power is difficult for even the average person to manage. Psychopaths are the least able to handle power justly.
Do we want a planet to live on? Do we want a world with peace? Then we need to entertain the thought that many of these individuals who line the halls of government and the corporate world have major personality disorders. They are the ones that will do what it takes to get to the top. They have been moving the world in a bad direction.
We can keep on winging it, and hope for the best, with our leaders, or we can start screening. These are not generally people who seek help from professionals. This makes psychiatric assessments all the more critical. The process should be repeated for every level of power.
If it is crazy, it is not just politics.
There is often a strong draw to power and money. I would not be surprised if the number per capita is higher among politicians corp.board members versus the gen. pop. for these disorders.
People with this nature, have terrorized, and done a lot of warmongering since forever. They are not concerned about the future. They want, what they want, when they want it. They institutionalized the military industrial complex, and became invested players in the business of war. They will decimate people without blinking an eye. I for one am tired of it.
Many of them have serious addictions to desire. Like money, power, sex etc. It is never enough and everyone else pays. Why should the rest of us be carried along by the whims and ambition of people who do not have our best interests at heart? They could be the death of us all.
I am not concerned about their feelings. I am concerned about everyone else. Employment testing, including psychiatric assessments is already used in business. One would not, higher a blind pilot. At least, not yet. Psychopaths do not have the constitution, qualities, ethics and morals required to be a leader. They are blind in many ways.
There is still much stigma surrounding mental illness. However, I believe that if we can get beyond the uncomfortableness, we can work on some real solutions for the problems we face.
People with these serious mental disorders will continue to be born, as they have always been. Perhaps some day, there will be an answer. In the meantime, it is our right as people, to live in a sane world
For that we require sane government.
